Leveraging Solutions to Increase District Efficiency

Q: WHAT WERE SOME OF THE DECIDING FACTORS WHEN PURCHASING eSCHOOLPLUS?

SPARCC went through an extensive review process when looking at student information management solutions. “We believe there’s efficiency with consistency. So where there’s opportunities to be consistent, we try to pursue those things,” said Dack Warner, Director of Operations for SPARCC. Throughout the review process, eSchoolPLUS continued to stand out.”

SPARCC, as a consortium that prides itself on supporting its districts efficiently, decided on eSchoolPLUS, a robust, intuitive system that integrates with third party vendor solutions.

It was probably as much of a one-stop shop as we could have hoped for. The features cover everything we needed,  including student information, grade book, data analysis, assessment delivery and more. One of the other big influences I think was the ability to integrate with third-party peripheral systems. Things like cafeteria systems, transportation systems, other assessment delivery systems.”

SPARCC saw the benefits of eSchoolPLUS, as well as the other solutions that PowerSchool provides for finance, human resources and assessment, and have started implementing these solutions in the recent past.

Q: HOW HAVE THESE POWERSCHOOL SOLUTIONS HELPED DISTRICTS BECOME MORE EFFICIENT?

Member districts have started to utilize eSchoolPLUS in ways that simplified processes, allowing for more time and resources. For example, according to Dack, “One of the biggest things is we’ve had some districts that are using some third-party learning management systems, where our teachers were having to enter assignments in two different platforms. Now those products are working together so that it’s taking advantage of all the scheduling, attendance information and demographic information in eSchoolPLUS, and even pulling assignments and grades back and forth between those two products. This has drastically reduced the amount of data entry required by teachers.”

The process of entering assignments and looking at student data has become much more efficient. And some of the districts have even opted away from sending report cards home because of eSchoolPLUS’ Home Access Center.

Q: COMMUNICATION IS THE HALLMARK OF SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIPS, TELL ME HOW POWERSCHOOL HAS EVOLVED WITH YOUR NEEDS.

With so many districts being implemented, PowerSchool continues to work with SPARCC to build a foundation for better use of all solutions. According to Warner, “The updates on the eSchoolPLUS side have been outstanding. Basically, we don’t have our hands on that process; PowerSchool takes care of all of that. We’re very appreciative of that. They’ve gone very smoothly. “ This again frees up time for SPARCC and its districts, so that they can continue to focus on what is truly important, the students. Dack continues by saying, ”I think it’s a very strong product with a lot of resources behind it. PowerSchool has been very responsive to work with.”
